S C R A B B A T T L E
S C R A B B A T T L E is a micro roguelike, where you use words to slay Numbosses.
Each victory will grant you new upgrades and letters, so you can build even stronger words, and keep slaying for as long as possible. There is no end - but there is always a highscore to beat.
This game was made in 7 days for the 1-BIT JAM 13 .
How to play
Pick up a letter, and hit other letters with it to snap them onto the end of the word. If the word is valid, it can be thrown at the boss to deal its score as damage. Only words of >1 letters can be used.
The score is the sum of the letter values multiplied by the length of the word and any additional upgrade multipliers.
To "backspace" and remove the last letter from a word, hit the bottom of the screen with the word.

This game uses the official European Scrabble Dictionary to validate words.
I made a similar game Down the Count for the GMTK Game Jam. Only sounds effects were reused for this game, everything else was rebuilt from scratch again (my old code sucked anyway).

One of the few games from the gamejam that truly caught my attention
I'm notoriously bad at scrabble, but played for longer than I expected to. The animations, sounds, and dragging interactions felt very satisfying.
Is this a new high score?

I haven't had too much time to playtest, so please comment if you find broken combos or just have fun ideas for new upgrades.
Hopefully I'll be good enough to begin with to find broken combos ahah
